The opening chapter in the period to become known as Glam Rock happened on the 27th February, 1971 when Marc Bolan’s T.Rex released Hot Love. Within two weeks the single was number one in the British charts and Marc Bolan appeared on Top Of The Pops dressed in his own style and he openly wore makeup. As he turned towards the camera the lights from the studio caught the lines of his cheek bones and the screen seemed to explode and dazzle…Bolan had brushed glitter dust upon his face, there was no turning back, GLAM ROCK had arrived.
