Home of the Brave is a 1986 American concert film directed by, and featuring the music of, Laurie Anderson. The film’s full on-screen title is Home of the Brave: A Film by Laurie Anderson. The performances were filmed at the Park Theater in Union City, NJ, during the summer of 1985.

The film included appearances by guitarist Adrian Belew, author William S. Burroughs, keyboardist Joy Askew, and percussionist David Van Tieghem. Barry Sonnenfeld, who was early in his movie-making career, receives an early film credit for operating second projection camera on this film. The film was released by Cinecom Pictures, but it was commercially unsuccessful.

  1. thank you so much for your kind review Sommelier! im so glad you liked the HOME OF THE BRAVE DVD-R. in the 90s i used to hang around this video store in SF, and i saw the laserdisc there, and i thought – i need to copy this, for the future. haha glad i did.

  2. Thank you for your work. I had been searching for an LD copy for a long time. Organizing the LaserDisc and also obtaining an LD player is a bit much – for just one movie. I would like to show it on my next milestone birthday in a few years, perhaps in a cinema. For that, I’m looking for a 35mm or 70mm copy of the film. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available for rental, and no one can tell me who holds the film and distribution rights for it in Germany.
    P.S.: Thank you very much for the extras. That made me very happy. Especially the fact that the disc also matched the theme. I’d like to from you. You have my email-address allready.
