PUNK IN LONDON 1977 GERMAN DOCUMENTARY THE CLASH THE JAM X-RAY SPEX!

German doc with footage of a slew of great British punk performances. The angle focuses on the punk insurgence in the earliest years. It had some meh interviews thrown in with the sets/shows performed. Apparently, one of the members from the stranglers was a massive douche.   And I never realized how much Topper Headon from the Clash looks like he could be related to Johnny Rotten -full on doppelgänger.

Oddly enough, the british themselves didn’t have much hope for the future of the genre. Pessimism and assertion that only two years after its creation it was to be a doomed genre. The only person who really spoke with optimism about its future was the german dude who didn’t even like it. He could foresee the musical and cultural impact it would have for years to come. Kudos to you guy and to this film.
